About us
Albvion Ltd is a painting and decorating firm working across London. We are deliberately small. The people who quote your job are the people who turn up to do it, which means nothing gets lost between the office and the dust sheets.
Most of what we do is ordinary in the best sense: hallways, living rooms, tired sash windows, whole houses before someone moves in. Plenty of it is in older London property, where nothing is straight and the previous decorator has usually left you something to deal with.
We would rather talk you out of a job than take one on badly. If a wall needs re-skimming before it takes paper, or the damp needs sorting before there is any point painting, we will say so at the quote stage rather than halfway through.
One point of contact
The person who comes to look at the job remains your point of contact through the work and the final walk-through. You do not have to repeat the same conversation to an office, a surveyor and a separate crew.
What we do
Most jobs are a mix of the services below. We look at the space first, explain what preparation it needs and write the full scope down before we start.
Walls, ceilings and rooms finished as one complete job.
We protect the space, repair and prepare the surfaces, then apply the right system for the finish you want. Edges, corners and changes of colour are planned before the first coat goes on.
Arches, curves, panels and crisp geometric layouts.
We set the design out carefully, check the proportions in the room and build clean colour changes coat by coat. It is detailed work, especially around stairs and awkward angles.
Hard-working areas that need careful preparation and durable paint.
From private stairwells to communal corridors, we work in stages, keep access clear where possible and use finishes chosen for regular knocks, scuffs and cleaning.
Doors, skirting, frames, handrails and fitted joinery.
Old coatings are cleaned back, defects repaired and surfaces primed before the finish coats. The aim is a smooth, consistent result without filling hinges, handles or sharp details with paint.
Offices, studios and shared areas delivered to an agreed programme.
We coordinate around access, lighting and other trades, break larger areas into clear stages and keep the finish consistent from one room or corridor to the next.
A coordinated plan for several rooms or the whole property.
You receive one written scope covering preparation, products, colours, order of work and timing. We keep you updated as each area is completed and walk through the whole job with you at the end.

How it works
Same five stages whether it is one bedroom or the whole house. You always know what is happening next.
Free, no obligation, and usually about half an hour. We need to see the actual walls, because photographs hide damp, movement and whatever the last decorator painted over.
A quote that lists the preparation, the products and the number of coats. If someone quotes you a single number with no detail, you have no way of knowing what they have left out.
Dust sheets down, furniture moved and covered, floors protected. We keep the working area contained and clear up at the end of every day, not just the last one.
The stage that decides how it looks in five years. Filled, sanded, sealed and primed before any topcoat, no matter how much it slows the job down.
In daylight, together. Anything you are not happy with gets put right before we ask you for the final payment.

Questions
It depends on the size, the condition of the walls and how much preparation is needed. A room that just needs a freshen up is a very different job to one with cracked plaster and six layers of old gloss. We would rather look at it and give you a proper figure than quote a range that turns out to be wrong.
Yes, and we pass on our trade discount. If you have your mind set on a particular colour from Farrow & Ball, Little Greene or similar, that is no problem at all. If you are not sure, we will help you narrow it down and get sample pots up on the wall first.
Almost never. Most of our work is in occupied homes. We work room by room, keep the dust contained, and clear up at the end of each day so you have somewhere to sit in the evening.
We will move and cover what we can between us. Anything very heavy, very valuable or very fragile is worth sorting before we start, and we will tell you what falls into that category when we quote.
A single room is usually two to four days depending on preparation. A whole house is a few weeks. You will get a realistic timescale in the quote, and if something changes, you hear it from us straight away rather than at the end.
The quote sets out the preparation, the products, the number of coats and what is included in the price. If we uncover something that could not reasonably have been seen at the first visit, we explain it and agree the next step with you before doing extra work.
